The theme 'Illumination' made me think about how grim and dark this year has felt for so many people and how it's the little things that have gotten people through it. The weird limbo time between lockdowns was quite hard working in hospitality, the stress of having to implement the government's ever-changing guidelines was unreal. The comment made by the customer in the film was just one of the ridiculous things said to me whilst I was at work. For me, having my two (absolutely gorgeous) dogs and being able to walk them every day has kept my mental health relatively stable throughout it all.
This film is for the many people working in hospitality and all "non-essential" jobs, for those who's year has been a complete limbo, those who have stable jobs one second and are out of work the next. Enjoy the little pleasures while this time is given to us.
